Stockings and Starbucks {a Giveaway}

It's been a little quite around here lately and that's because I have a lot going on. For those of you who may not know, I was on hospitalized bed rest when I was pregnant with Harper for two months. I got to go home for a few more weeks before I went into preterm labor. She was born seven weeks early and spent the first two weeks of her life in the NICU.

I was devastated but at the same time I knew that we were "lucky". Two weeks is nothing compared to what other families go through. I still tear up when I think about leaving the hospital just days before my favorite holiday and how we listened to Christmas music the whole way home. (My husband usually plays NPR so that was major) With those memories deeply stored in my heart, I decided to reach out to the NICU where Harper chill-axed in order to do something for the mamas and papas.

In the spirit of the holiday, I'm putting together stockings filled with necessities and fun goodies for the parents. The only time I left the hospital was to get things like toothpaste, shower gel and granola. When your baby is in an incubator the last thing you want to do is run out to Wal-Mart. Well...I didn't want to. Ha! Luckily, a few stockings have been sponsored so I won't have AS much work to do. I'm going to do my very best to blog twice, maybe thrice a week until the second week of December. Or The Dropoff because that sounds really intense.

To thank y'all for your patience and overall awesomeness, I want to buy someone a few cups of coffee or a holiday mug.

This post was fueled by oats with cranberries and sunflowers, Starbucks (duh) and supa sore muscles. I asked the trainer that I wanted and she said "yes"!

  1. That's so sweet and thoughtful of you! I bet the parents will really appreciate it! I was a preemie as well, and my mom works as a nurse in a NICU! :] I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

    Truth be told, I don't drink coffee tooo often (I save it as a last-resort because it's so good at keeping me awake!) I was planning on gifting it to my preceptor for spending so much time teaching and explaining things to me! :]

    1. Preemie perfect! What an important occupation your mother has. Half of what kept me sane were the nurses. Give her a squeeze for me, please!

      This would make a fantastic gift for any coffee lover! I actually do a happy dance when I get Starbucks gift cards.

  24. I'm so late but better late than never! You are so amazing. What you are doing is a wonderful thing. Its so important to give back and you know how much it would mean to those you're giving to because you were once in that situation. Its so great that you are being a blessing to others. I totally screwed up finishing two entries on the giveaway but it's ok I just had to let you know how great you are for this.
